I played 'Before and After Science' this evening for the first time in a long while and remembered the prints I had as a young man and how much I loved them. Thanks to Wikipedia and Google I stumbled across this site. I didn't know Peter Schmidt but was touched by his work and am astonished at the beauty of the pieces I have never seen before. Thank you so much for putting this website together.

Always loved Peters paintings.. Which is why I dropped by..
I love the music here on the site too. Peter ? Eno ? It´s lovely..
John Emr:
It's Peter's "sound art", a piece called "Unfinished Musics II", circa 1969...

Your watercolors are so beautiful.. I've been looking at some old Folons recently and there are a lot of similarities.
There's an elegant simplicity and a "quiet" quality.

I am finishing my senior dissertation on Brigid Riley, and would have done it on Peter Schmidt if I'd known about this website. This a real work of art in itself. Amazing!!!

Crazy cool artist. You went deep on his act too. I always wanted to see beyond Eno and the LP sleeves. There is so much more...

It's great to find a site devoted to Peter's work.
I was privileged to know him whilst a student at Watford School of Art. He shared with me a lot of his thoughts, ideas and principles. I spent endless evenings experimenting with different printing techniques, and ultimately reproducing many of his drawings. 'A meeting with Kali' being the most frustrating, through all the changes that took place. It was nevertheless a worthwhile and memorable experience.
Being led by Hansjorg Mayer, producing 'Printed in Watford' was a completely different experience. Peter's input, in all respects, was great and together with Eddie Armer, Fred White and Bernie we had an immense amount of fun!

Good morning. I have always felt Peter Schmidt deserved a closer look. This website provides it. Thank you for your scholarly approach, and for gathering all of this artist's diverse work into one place. Cheers...

I knew Peter from his days in the army in 1950, and I treasure a pencil portrait he drew of me when we were both at the Lenton Hurst college at Nottingham University that October. It has saddened me to know that he died so young, but I am happy that his work lives on.
